“Are you concerned about pokies in Hamilton?

At present pokie machines within the Gambling Permitted Areas can stay in their present location, which protects the business owner or club, but the pokie machines cannot be relocated. This is a form of a “sinking lid” policy, meaning the number of pokie machines could reduce over time.

Council is readdressing this policy and asking for your opinion, which may result in a change.

Submissions can be made by following this link: www.hamilton.govt.nz/gamblingreview until the 17th June 2016.

Voting no would mean we retain a form of “sinking lid”. Voting yes would mean a more permissive policy than what we have at present.

Gambling can be seen as entertainment. But it also can result in harm for the individual and the community.

As a Hamilton City Councillor, I will be listening and reading all submissions and will be keeping an open mind on the issue.

Make a difference, have your say.
Thank you for your continued support.”
