Why Hamilton City Council shouldn’t be in the property market. We brought a piece of land for $3 million dollars for commercial use to find it’s unstable and we have to spend another $1 million dollars to repair it. Neighbours have the right to use parts of it for parking. It appears this land was never suitable for commercial development. If you scroll to the bottom of the article below you will see I propose using this land as a park. A park here would enhance our Business District’s connection to the river. I believe this is a far better outcome than the proposal to redevelop another riverside park called Ferrybank, which is in a Reserve and therefore shouldn’t be commercialised.
